Choose the workflow your team needs to improve.
Cypress supports end-to-end and component testing, with local debugging and CI workflows. Its current offering also includes AI-assisted authoring and cloud analysis of test runs. The Cypress overview describes those tools and their availability.
Molar focuses on browser agents carrying out tasks and checking the connected payment, email, identity, or storage services configured for a test. Start with a gap in your current coverage rather than replacing a working suite.
Compare how you would test an invitation.
| Work | Cypress | Molar |
|---|---|---|
| Check the invitation form | Use an end-to-end or component test with explicit assertions. | Give a browser agent a defined task, account, and success condition. |
| Control service responses | Use the network controls and test fixtures in your project. | Configure a supported email or identity clone for the flow. |
| Investigate a failure | Use the local debugging tools and available Cloud recordings. | Review captured browser steps and available service results. |
Check what happens after “Invitation sent.”
Confirm that the email contains the intended link, that the recipient can accept it, and that their account receives the right permissions. Use separate test accounts and reset state before repeating the test.
Molar’s recorded invitation example shows a controlled two-browser test with email and identity clones. It is a specific example, not a claim that every multi-user workflow is automatically supported.
Add one flow and compare the results.
Keep Cypress tests that already help your team ship. Evaluate Molar on a task that is difficult to exercise or investigate today. Compare setup time, clarity of failures, supported service behavior, and repeatability on your own app.

When to choose which
Choose Cypress alone when your team has a working Cypress suite and wants to stay in its runner. Add Molar for flows that cross into payments, email or SMS, since clones work with any HTTP client, for agent exploration of new flows, or to send your Cypress results to Molar Trace with the @molar/reporter Cypress adapter. Molar is in beta.
